The
duties of County Judge/Executive are wide and varied, but
his primary responsibility is the administration of county
government. The judge/executives responsibilities for
the financial administration of county government have expanded
substantially in recent years, to include preparation of the
county budget, oversight of county funds, financial reports to
the fiscal court and fiscal record keeping.
The
Judge/Executive is required to assure the representation of the
county on all board, commissions, special districts, and
multi-county programs in which county participation is called
for.
County
judges/executive have the power to perform marriage ceremonies.
They may also authorize fiscal court magistrates to perform
marriages. In Christian County, any of the eight
magistrates are authorized to marry couples, although some of
them prefer not to. Judge Tribble performs over 300
marriages a year, and because his duties require that he attend
many meetings, weddings are only performed on certain days of
the week. Couples are required to schedule an appointment in
advance for a marriage ceremony. |
